Something pretty special happened in Ghent: we organised the very first large-scale kendama workshop ever held inside a Belgian school. Hundreds of children swapped their usual break-time games for a wooden kendama and the playground turned into one big flow of spikes, lighthouses and happy cheers.

The best part? HLN.be and Het Nieuwsblad came along and turned the day into a beautiful article: 👉
HLN:
“Eeuwenoude Japanse sport vindt haar weg naar Gent: wat is kendama?”
Het Nieuwsblad:
"Matias (25) en Jan (25) willen Japanse skillsport bekender maken in Gent: “Voldoening is even groot als wanneer een skatetrucje lukt”
We’re incredibly proud that our little project in Kendama Gent is now officially the first school workshop of its kind in the country.

What the day actually looked like
- We held a 45-minute sessions with entire classes
- Every child got their own kendama to try (and many didn’t want to give it back 😉)
- Teachers and the headmaster joined in. Yes, even the match teacher was secretly practising lunar flips.
- Lots of “I can’t do it!” moments and even more laughter when the ball flew in the wrong direction
The feedback was unanimous: kendama is the perfect mix of concentration, movement and fun. Exactly what a modern playground needs.

Want this at your school too?
We travel all over kendama Belgium and the rest of kendama Europe with ready-made workshop packages (from one class to an entire school day). Everything is provided: kendamas, instructors and a clear step-by-step program.
A huge thank you to the brave Ghent school that made history with us and to HLN for the wonderful coverage.
See you soon, hopefully on your playground!
