Weight guide

Light, medium or heavy?

The PEAK Maple ken comes in three weights. The right one depends on how you play:

  • Light (75–80 g): fast and responsive, great for juggles and flow
  • Medium (80–85 g): the all-rounder if you are not sure
  • Heavy (85–90 g): stable in your hand, helps with balance tricks

The beech ken comes in one version, its weight varies naturally between 70 and 90 g.

What is a ken?

The ken is the wooden handle of a kendama, with the big cup, small cup, base cup and the spike. Buying a ken only lets you build a custom setup or replace a worn ken.

Is the tama included?

No. Our kens come with a string but without a tama. Pair them with a KIN Tama Only or a tama you already have.

Maple or beech: which is better?

Maple is harder, smoother and available in three weights. Beech is durable, balanced and more affordable. Both share the same PEAK shape.

Will my tama fit?

Our kens fit all KIN tamas, so you can mix and match within the KIN range.
